IF YOU LIKED SALAD...
...then you might just like some of the bands listed below. We do not claim that these bands are as good as Salad or that they have the same 'X' factor that Salad did. It's just that you might want some new music, and it seems unlikely that we'll see any more Salad LPs (at least until the Salad Anthology due for release in 2030).
| Garbage | Spiky indie guitar rockers. Singer, Shirley Manson has an intriguing voice, which complements the twisted tunes. Both albums are jam-packed with catchy, yet dark pop-rock songs which stay in one's head for days. Also most impressive on stage. |

| Echobelly | Another once-great band now consigned to the bargain bin. Singer, Sonya Auroura Madan's vocals liven up the standard indie guitars which lie beneath. Their strong songs were popular during the mid 90s, but recent albums have lost pace and rightfully have not been as successful. |

| Veruca Salt | All-American band named after a Roald Dahl character. Male bassist and drummer, two female guitar/vocalist/songwriters. Heavily rock influenced and not afraid to shout about it. First album, 'American Thighs' named after AC/DC lyric. |

| Elastica | Perhaps not the most attractive girls to be in a band, but their fuzzy guitar-based indie-punk songs (almost) make up for it. Influenced by Wire and the Stranglers we shouldn't wonder... |

| Sleeper | "Sleeperblokes" : a word coined to describe any nondescript male band member in a female-fronted band. Often used to describe Rob, Paul and Pete. Sleeper themselves had a big hit with the single 'Inbetweener' and their first album, 'Smart'. Following releases were less successful (see Echobelly) |

| Belle & Sebastian | Scotch Indie Trolls with a stack of albums under their belt. 2000's 'Legal Man' was probably their best known hit to date. |

| Salt | Scandinavian indie-rock band with a powerful sound that belies their three members. Unfortunately they too have now split, but their 1993 album could well have inspired bands like Elastica and Garbage. Much underrated and worth a listen if the opportunity ever arises. |

| Gay Dad | One hit wonders? Hopefully not. Their biggest single, 'To Earth with Love' was all over the Radio in 1999. Charley played and sang with them for a while, but no more. Their album, Leisure Noise succeeded in bringing 70s Glam Rock up to date for 2000. Check the site for details of the upcoming tour.... |

| Formula One | Preston's underrated Sonic Youth wannabes. Not the US band of the same name. Very difficult to get hold of, but worth it if you do. They supported Salad on more than one occasion and blew the house down... | |
| Brassy | Oft Salad support - female fronted indie band on Wiiija record label. Coming to the fore now, after limited success in the past. |
