Salad & Brassy 1996

Having finally managed to extort money out of the university for my farcical attempts at teaching the little darlings something I can now afford little things like CD's (no I'm not going to list them!!!) and gigs. So having got both parts of the excellent new Salad single earlier this week I was well and truly up for it last night. Brassy came on stage to be greeted by about 4 people lurking in the shadows. However once they'd started they got quite a few more people watching. I only knew one song by them and it has to be said that Straighten Out is definitely their best song by quite a long way. But they made a reasonable sort of noise.

Salad were however sheer perfection. Right from the start there were a couple of obvious changes to the Salad I'd seen many times before. The intro tune was no longer Grange Hill but it was the song that Mark and Lard use for "watching girls by". They have also added a new guitarist/ keyboard player. Every song was a winner, Diminished Clothes, Elixir, On a leash, Granite Statue and loads of new stuff. Jani had said earlier this week that he thought the new Salad stuff was softer than the earlier stuff. It's not. The new stuff was absolutely outstanding live although Marijne should get rid of the severe fringe she is now sporting!
